Saturn in Capricorn: Why you should be reading this if you are born between 1985 to 1991

Saturn, the planet of reality check, is set to enter Capricorn on 20th December 2017 at 12:49PM GMT +8. For those born between the mid-80s and early 90s, this Saturn transit will affect you on a collective and generational level in 2018!

Saturn? Simisai?

Unlike Jupiter which is traditionally a ‘happy’ planet, Saturn is a planet of effort, hard work and pessimism. In the sign of hardworking but status-sensitive Capricorn, Saturn will solidify your foundations so that you may reap its benefits in later years! For those whose foundations are not in place, the influence of Saturn will force you to bite down, grind and establish those structure.

I’m born between the mid-80s and the early 90s. Why is it important to me?

Because those born between 1985 to 1991 have generational planets in your birth charts in the sign of Capricorn and Saturn is going to conjunct them, heavily influencing how those planets work in your charts. You will feel constricted, you will feel bogged down and you will cry feel the difficulty.

Conjunct?

Well basically, the incoming Saturn will colour the effects of those planets in your chart. It will limit and contain how they normally operate.

So what are these planets? How do they normally operate?

For those born between 1985 to October 1988, Saturn will make a conjunction to Neptune in your chart. Neptune is a planet of deceit, illusion, dreams and idealisation. Its placement in your chart tells me what you idealise about, what you want to attain but gets disappointed because it seems unachievable.

Well, here’s the good news and the bad: Saturn will come in and give those dreams a reality check—whether you are dreaming about the ‘perfect’ career or the ‘perfect’ relationship—Saturn comes in and tell you that you are NOT going to achieve any of those things because you have been dreaming but not doing anything about it. For those who are more practical, the good news is that Saturn will come in and show you how to make those dreams a tangible and achievable reality.

For those born between November 1988 and January 1991, other than the transit to Neptune, Saturn has other ‘treats’ in store for you. *cues evil laughter*

November 1988 to January 1991: A Most Interesting Generation

Broadly speaking, this is the generation which has Uranus, Neptune and Saturn conjunct together in the sign of Capricorn in their charts. This means that other than dreaming and idealising (Neptune) about a life that looks really good (Capricorn), they also want it different and unique (Uranus) and of high standards (Saturn). We (yes, I’m included in this category myself) want the imaginable high life, but we also want it different from our predecessors.

Therein lies the difficulty: we want to build a life that is ideal and different but we also want it successful according to traditional standards. We don’t just want a job, a house and a family; the generation of Taylor Swifts and Daniel Radcliffes aspires to be looked upon with greatness.

Taylor Swift cares about her reputation. So do the 85-91 generation. http://www.trbimg.com/img-5a0a4ab1/turbine/la-et-ms-taylor-swift-reputation-review-20171113

I used to play Dota when I was younger, and to use a term I learned: we are the late gamers—we will get there, but we must complete our due diligence first.

This Saturn conjunction to our generational planets will test us and get us to be up to mark. When Saturn makes a conjunction to Uranus, our wildness and need to experiment will be toned down. Wherever it is in our charts, we will start to curtail and be more mature. No longer will we rebel for the sake of rebellion. We will start to plan: how can we shake things up but also achieve tangible and long lasting results.

First Saturn Return

For a lot of us, especially those born between 12 November 1988 to 30 November 1989 (sans a select few), we will also be experiencing our first Saturn Return.

Dafuq is that?

Well, basically, we grow up. We will start to consolidate, prioritise and scale back what is no longer useful or practical. If it doesn’t give us the quality we are looking for—be it a job that is fun but doesn’t pay or a relationship that is exciting but frivolous—we are likely to do the mature thing and move on. Whatever is it that we decide to do, it will pave the way for the next 29.5 years, where Saturn will return for a second time.

Oh nozzzz

Aww man! Doesn’t it suck then?

Yes, it can suck and be difficult for some people. But look at it this way: no pain no gain, right?

Ok, so in lieu of all these Saturn things, what can I do about it?

For a start, accept that it’s coming, accept that it will be gruelling, then make adjustment to work hard. Saturn is supposed to make you work hard. You are supposed to work hard. So quit complaining and get planning. You will reap its rewards in the coming years.

Ok, so is there a way for me to know how this Saturn thingie will affect my life in the coming year? What if I’m not part born between 1985 to 1991?
